THE FIRE OF GOD IN THREE SENSES - JACK HUNTER

1. The Awesome Holiness of God - The presence of God on this occasion will be very real. We are told that "OUR GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE" (Deut. 4:24, 9:3; Heb. 12:29). Note the RV rendering of Romans 14:10, "the Judgment Seat of God."

2. The Penetrating Discernment of Christ - At last we are face to face with the One we loved and sought to serve. There is no need to be afraid if we have conscientiously sought to please Him as we have handled the Holy Scriptures. We are told that "HIS EYES ARE AS A FLAME OF FIRE," burning, penetrating, discerning, revealing.

3. The Purity of the Word of God - All shall be judged by its unfailing standards, its permanent principles, its powerful, living, sharp inward discernment (Heb 4:14). We are told, "IS NOT MY WORD LIKE AS A FIRE?" (Jer 23:29). "What saith the scripture?" will be all-important in that day.
