More Than Conquerors!

I thought it was about time for another post. I don't want to go over my four post a year limit.

Here's a thought from Romans 8:37 - "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us."

The security of the believer is never more emphatically communicated than in Romans 8:28-39. What will God withhold his elect seeing that He gave us all things, including His one of a kind Son?! "Who will lay a charge against us? God that justifieth? Who judges against us? Christ that died?" God certainly won't! Neither will the One who died for us. Nothing shall separate us, not even death.

Romans 8:37 brings out the great truth that our own death makes us more than conquerors. The verse before (v36), quoted from Psalm 44:22, recounts how God's people are "killed all the day long," and, "are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." Verse 35 asks if tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, or the sword will separate us from the love of Christ. The initial answer of Paul in v37 shouts to us the answer... can we be separated from the love of Christ through these things? NAY, IN ALL THESE THINGS (tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, or the sword) WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS THROUGH HIM THAT LOVED US.

The way we have been cultured in the western world (or perhaps it's just human nature) has been our instructor to take the path of less resistance. A tribulation results in me praying, "Oh God, save me from this it's so terrible, why is this happening?!" Instead rejoice in tribulation. When distress or persecution comes, don't be downhearted. Famine, nakedness, and danger all each have occurred from my livelihood being shaken. Even sword, in death, what many humans fear the most could be considered something to rejoice in. God wants us to enjoy Him, to be satisfied in Him, and to love Him regardless of circumstance.

Now to my favorite part.... WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS! In all those things, though they may threaten us physically, we are more than conquerors. It isn't just a conquering, it's so decisive and surpassing that the victory was never in question! It might be like a hockey game where from the first drop of the puck you knew one team was no match for the other, and in the end just as was apparent, there final score was 10-0 for the dominant team... no... 20-0. Not even a question. That is us because in all these things God can show us, and show us best in the most intense of these, that He is El-Shaddai.

Now to my actual favorite part because it's the best. All this victory, all this domination, all this unquestionable lob sided conquering is all of Christ. It is THROUGH HIM THAT LOVED US. The whole list from enduring tribulation through going into death in peace is all through Him that loved us. All that may occur in life is according to His purposes. Whatever may happen He is completely in control. Any adversity that is possible to happen to us in our lives it put there so that when we go in, are passing through, or have come to the other side and look back at it we may always say, "If God be for us, who can be against us." So that we may worship Him as our lives shout, "Blessed be the name of the Lord."

Let us be secure in our salvation. Enjoy God who spared not His own Son. Bask in the radiant love of Christ. Where ever we are in life, whatever our circumstances, whatever calamity is all around and has come in unto us, however God may be dealing with us, let's always remember that the world might not understand, but In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
